The Ambassador of the United States of America for Indonesia, Scot Marciel Is Impressed by the Cooperation Ties with Sumatra. The American Presence Post Medan for Sumatra celebrated the 235 U.S. Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a formal reception held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel Medan.

Environmental Awareness Campaign Through Fun and Games
Principal Officer Anthony C. Woods visited an elementary school in a under-privileged fisherman village in Belawan to promote students' awareness on the importance of preserving the environment. The event included fun and games such as group and individual quiz on environmental issues.

Elly Tjan, Alumni of the Month
Elly Tjan is the Deputy Manager at the Economics and Monetary Team at Bank Indonesia, Medan. Her daily tasks include research, business data, surveys and dissemination of economic research findings.
In April 2009, US Department of State through US Consulate Medan invited Elly Tjan to participate in the Fortune/State Department Global Women's Mentoring Program between April 26 - May 22, 2009.
The program ran a number of visits to the White House, Capitol Building, Department of States and Vital Voices in which Elly had the opportunity to have discussions with women politicians, senators, activists, ambassadors and also a gala dinner with Secretary of State, Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
